Thank you for your time. I noticed a comment on triablogue where you claimed that there was a rumour that Francis Schaffer was considering to convert to the EO church! Where did you hear such a rumour?
Well, I think his son became Eastern Orthodox for a while. Now I think he's an atheist of sorts. I did hear that the father (the well known apologist) was considering OR in the process of becoming Orthodox before his death in 1984. I'm not sure where I heard it. I think I heard it from one or two Eastern Orthodox fellows I used to chat with in the early 2000s. They were both once Evangelicals. One or both them used to work at the Christian Research Institute and worked for or under both Walter Martin and later Hank Hanegraaff. It's interesting that Hank Hanegraaff has now converted to Orthodoxy. I'm a facebook friend with one of the guys who used to work for Hank and he's pessimistic about Hank joining his denomination (i.e. Orthodoxy). He's doubtful that it'll be a boon for Orthodoxy. I would rather not mention his name. For all I know, I'm misremembering all of this. I may eventually ask him about whether the rumor (and hence also my memory) is true. At present he's tired about discussing the issue of converts to Orthodoxy (especially that of Hank's). I thought Francis' consideration of Orthodoxy was a commonly known rumor. Your asking me about it now makes me wonder whether it isn't.
